Careers at EW pay a fair rate and provide great support, flexibility, and plenty of room for growth.
No fussing with CPT codes or billing dilemmas. No fighting with or appealing insurance decisions or reduced reimbursement rates on a whim. No lingering threats of insurance audits or retroactive clawbacks for thousands of $$$.
Earn a living wage doing what you love in a way that allows for longevity and without being exploited by an employer. Our pay scale is based on licensure, years of experience, and weekly sessions. Productivity goals are reasonable (20-25 weekly sessions) to minimize clinical burnout. It also has built-in bonus pay tiers that you’re eligible for each pay period.
You won’t have to wait a month (or three) for insurance to pay that claim. You won’t waste your time if someone no-shows or late cancels. We have a robust payroll system with direct deposit every two weeks.
You’ll pay less in employment taxes, be eligible for benefits, and have less overall risk. There’s no need to worry if you’ve saved enough money at the end of every quarter to pay your government tax bill.
Not everyone is cut out to run their own practice or wants all the responsibility that goes with it. We provide administrative support and marketing efforts so you have consistent referrals without having to do all that other stuff. Do great clinical work while effectively and ethically retaining your clients. It’s that simple.
Just tell us the clinical issues and/or populations that you love to work with. We’ll do our best to make your caseload look like a dream – no need to pinch yourself ;)
We’ll work with you to create a clinical schedule that fits your needs, demand for services, and our existing office space commitments.
Paying for supervision can be expensive for pre-license professionals, while being in solo practice can be lonely. We offer both in-house with our doctoral-level clinicians.
Our team gets PTO, 9 paid Holidays, quarterly Wellness Days, and an annual stipend to cover continuing education credits, training, and workshops. We’re growing and as we do, we’ll be expanding our benefits (hello health, vision, 401K & more!)
S%@! happens to everyone. When the unexpected strikes (e.g. accidents, illness, disability, etc.), being part of a group practice means you can rest easy that your work colleagues will take care of your clients until you’re ready to come back to work.
CBT, ACT, MI, DBT, EFT, EMDR, CPT, SFBT, ERP, REBT, IFS, SE, BSP, Gottman, Client-Centered, Polyvagal, Narrative, Interpersonal, Mindfulness… Effective mental health care is as diverse as the clients it serves and the clinicians that provide it. We respect your choice of interventions as long as you’re trained to do it and have sound clinical reasoning for its use.
Some may love us, others may hate us. We’re okay with both.
But if you’re thinking of working here, let’s be upfront and not waste anyone’s time.
We strive to do no harm. This means that our client’s well-being is first and foremost in our minds and guides our clinical and business decision-making. We don’t accept cases outside of our scope of competence. We terminate and refer out when appropriate. We uphold and model strong clinical boundaries for clients and avoid dual relationships with them.
We expect everyone to be committed to professionalism and a strong work ethic. That means performing their responsibilities (whether administrative or clinical) to the best of their ability without someone reminding you or looking over your shoulder. No half-assing, throwing things at the wall to see if they stick, winging it, or bowing out before the work is done, either.
There aren’t a lot of rules, but everyone must follow the ones we have to ensure there’s structure, organization, and ease of workflow.
Everyone’s time is valuable so we end and start sessions on time. We also don’t cancel on clients because of a bad day, not “feeling it”, or something better came up. Last-minute cancellations are for emergencies only. Punctuality also means completing documentation within 24 hours and writing assignments on time.
Our work is challenging enough, so we pride ourselves on being a stress-free workplace. Therefore, we have ZERO tolerance for gossiping, negativity, passive aggression, manipulation, or backchanneling. If a conflict arises, we’ll address it head-on with kindness and tact. If you like your workplace with a helping of he-said/she-said, a side of internal politics, power struggles, and a dash of whining or complaining, this is definitely not the place for you.
For many mental health clinicians, working in private practice is the dream. But not everyone wants to or is cut out for doing the business side of private practice. Our model is ideal for anyone that’s:
Check out the perks of mental health careers at Envision Wellness:
More often, clinicians are choosing to start their careers in mental health in private practice.
And with so much information online, going into private practice has never been easier.
Everyone you know in solo practice says they make more on their own but does the math support the claims? Plus, when you see those solo practice owners, they look tired and haggard (kinda like Bert, the one-man-band in Mary Poppins). They’ll nervously tell you they can’t afford to take a day off or get sick. You can see they’re obviously working hard… harder it seems than when they were at the agency. And that’s probably the case because everything – clinical work, clinical admin, billing, marketing, accounting, claim appeals – rests on their shoulders in solo private practice. Here’s the harsh reality about solo practice:
Skeptical? Check out the numbers below and let them do the talking. Below is a very lean budget based on actual amounts as of this writing (June 2021) for 4 solo practice scenarios: in (INN) vs. out of network (OON) and a traditional office setting vs. telehealth only setting. Each scenario is based on:
Here’s the reality: solo clinicians spend way more than 20 hours per week seeing clients and doing things for their business. This means the only way to earn more is to raise fees and/or see more clients. If you take insurance, that isn’t an option because you don’t have control over reimbursement rates and worse yet, you’re vulnerable to any changes to those rates. (BCBS cut rates by 33% in Florida with 2 months’ notice a few years ago!) If you raise your fee, you further limit access to needed care. And finally, increasing your caseload will require more billing and admin work to handle claim appeals and QA requests which means now you’re working even more hours.
National groups like Alma, Headway, etc. promise to get you consistent referrals, credentialed with insurance companies, handle the billing, negotiate higher reimbursement rates, and pay at regular intervals. While these groups seem to solve the missing puzzle pieces to making solo practice viable, there are some drawbacks like:
At Envision Wellness, we understand that. Careers at our practice are designed to provide our clinicians with streamlined support and autonomy while catering to their ambitions. Our pay scale offers a clear path for financial growth and longevity for careers in the mental health field.
As you can see from the chart above, an EWCo clinician’s compensation entirely depends on the number of clinical hours (inclusive of clinical admin time) they chose to work. Across the board, they’re taking home approximately 45-48% of total revenue, which is still more than most of the scenarios above. Here’s why that’s a big deal:
In fact, the only scenario that financially outperforms our model is the solo private pay, telehealth-only practice which leads to taking home 49% of total revenue. That’s only a 4% difference from our model for newly licensed clinicians BUT you’re doing it all – clinically, administratively, technologically, and entrepreneurially – and carrying all the risk. The difference decreases to 1% for experienced licensed clinicians.
For these nominal differences, you can eliminate all the time wasted on the administrative, technological, and entrepreneurial headaches that come with owning, operating, and working in a business. Using the example above, it’s equal to $5,760 yearly, $480 monthly, or $120 weekly depending on how you look at it. For less than the cost of a session, you’d gain back more than 1 hour of your time each week to spend on the people and things that matter most to you.
By the time you’ve graduated, you’ve either heard of or witnessed firsthand the drudgery of working in a community mental health agency. It’s long hours, brutal commutes, large caseloads, resistant or unmotivated clients, administrative demands, bureaucratic red tape, internal politics, and ever-increasing responsibilities for the same minimal salary. Yes, there are benefits, but are they worth the price you pay?
At Envision Wellness, we offer registered MHC interns and post-doctoral psychology residents the opportunity to develop their clinical skills in a supportive environment in exchange for sustainable income. Where pre-licensed clinicians in community mental health agencies can expect to earn $40-45K for a 50-60 weekly hours, check out what a pre-licensed mental health professional can earn.
