A heart attack at the age of 35 changed my life.
It didn’t make sense, though. I ate well and worked out regularly. But when I looked closer at my life, there was one aspect of my health I’d ignored: my mental health. I’d been having panic attacks since I was 18 when I was balancing the demands of going to college, completing vocational school, and back-breaking work at a furniture factory. Getting married, having a child, and going to medical school turned up the pressure and made me more anxious.
Being stressed out became a way of life for me.
I’m Frank Martinez-Mesa, a licensed neuropsychologist serving Miami, FL, and the surrounding neighborhoods of Coral Gables, Brickell, Doral, Pinecrest, Dadeland, and South Miami. Sitting in my hospital bed, I decided to make radical changes to my life. My journey to overcome chronic stress and anxiety, combined with my medical knowledge, has become my area of expertise since becoming a health and neuropsychologist.
You can let go of anxiety, stress, and depression as a lifestyle, too.
And it’s easier than you think…when you have the right support. That’s where I can help you. My experience taught me the importance of mental health on the progression of chronic disease – whether it’s heart disease, high blood pressure, chronic pain, headaches/migraines, chronic fatigue, or a major diagnosis like cancer or diabetes. I recovered my physical and mental health, and now I help others (like you) to do the same.

My therapy style is solution focused and time limited (on average 6 to 12 sessions). Because I don’t subscribe to any particular model for therapy, I’m very eclectic in the techniques I use with my clients. So whether it’s CBT, a sketch on a paper, mindfulness, or humor, I’ll use whatever strategy, tip, or hack from my toolbox will help you feel the relief you’re looking for and get closer to your goals.
